In 2004 EDM participated in the Beijing Olympic Games International Design Competition for the Forest Park and Events Axis. The design was led by Turenscape of Beijing, and the team included Betsy Damon and other Chinese firms. The plan won third place in the competition. All three finalists were given roles in the final Olympic design. EDM was part of the team that placed third in the International design competition for the Beijing Olympics. There were more than 100 submissions. The team’s water system was selected for construction.
Beginning in 2005, and working through Betsy Damon of Beijing, EDM began work on the final Forest Park design as part of the new implementation team formed under Tsinghua University. EDM was responsible for the water component of the park, including the functional design of the lake and water treatment systems (in association with Tsinghua University Civil Engineering).
