In 2014, Parks Canada hired EDM to provide a conceptual redevelopment plan for the Chignecto South recreation area at Fundy National Park. Covering approximately 130 acres, the former campground at Chignecto South provided an opportunity to enhance the recreation offer of the park through the re-purposing of the area as an outdoor recreation hub.
The Redevelopment Plan for Chignecto South is comprised of a series of interconnected elements and amenities. The relationship between each element was carefully considered. A key component of the redevelopment plan was the trail network. Trailhead facilities, better access to views, and the rerouting of trails to better organise the offer in the context of the plan were all key. During plan development, EDM reviewed all of the activities/elements that had been identified through stakeholder and community consultation, existing uses, as well as ideas brought forward by the Steering Committee. These elements formed the basis for the Redevelopment Plan which has received approval from the project Steering Committee.
